This course explains the processes used in backing up and restoring databases and database files within an instance of SQL Server 2000 using the SQL Server Enterprise Manager and the SQL Query Analyzer. Additional topics include troubleshooting transactions and options for checking data integrity using the SQL Server Enterprise Manager or the SQL Query Analyzer for command-line actions.


Objectives:

After completing this course, students will be able to:

Recognize the differences among the three primary database backup types
Plan database backup scheduling based on backup type and recovery model selection
Determine when each of the three recovery methods should be used
Identify the types of integrity found in database implementations
Use SQL Server 2000 and Windows 2000 tools to troubleshoot transactions and perform integrity checks
Perform system monitoring using the SQL Profiler, Enterprise Manager, and Transact-SQL command-line actions
